Optimizing Musculoskeletal Injury Treatment with ARPwave Active Neuromuscular & Electrostimulation Therapy

Empowering Performance Through Active Rehabilitation and ARPwave Technology

Mental and Neurological Rehabilitation

We at Arkfeld Advanced Chiropractic have always prided ourselves on our ability to treat pain and empower performance through addressing not only the physical well-being of our patients, but also the mental and neurological.

When a musculoskeletal injury occurs, in addition to the direct damage done to the affected area, the body also creates a neurological disruption in response to that damage known as arthrogenic muscle inhibition (AMI) (1). This neurological response is thought to be a protective reflex, limiting the movement and force of the injured area to allow for healing to occur.

While this is helpful to a certain extent, recent studies have shown that failure to address AMI can stunt and even prevent rehabilitative processes from working at all. Removing or reducing AMI from patients suffering from musculoskeletal injuries allows for the restoration of proper neural function and optimization of joint health after injury.

One of the biggest barriers to entry when managing neuromuscular impairment is that to recover, the nerves need to be reeducated in how to move properly, but to do that, they need to move. This paradox has, thus far, been addressed most effectively through treatments that externally stimulate the target muscle groups through a combination of electricity and active rehabilitation.

Active Rehabilitation – A Preferred Therapy

Active rehabilitation has been a cornerstone of my practice for years. While traditional therapy methods tend to favor a more passive approach to healing; resting, icing, and avoiding activity, they do nothing to prevent these neuromuscular impairments from developing. In my experience as a clinician, I have come to find that not only is active therapy combined with neuromuscular electrostimulation more effective in the long run, it also accelerates recovery and allows me to incorporate strength building treatments as well. This was only further confirmed by the incorporation of ARPwave NeuroTherapy into our treatment protocols four years ago.

The Role Of Electric Stimulation in Recovery

A study published in the Journal of Sport Rehabilitation in 2022 cited Neuromuscular Electric Stimulation, Eccentric Exercise, Biofeedback, Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation, as well as several others as viable interventions for AMI following ACL injury (2). Additionally, in further studies, it was shown that there is moderate to strong evidence that electrostimulation is effective in certain treatments for muscle weakness after critical illness (3) as well as for muscle movement restoration and pain reduction (4). These new options have been helpful in allowing patients build strength when other options do not work for them.

The efficiency and effectiveness of this technology have transformed our practice, allowing us to achieve remarkable results, that even I would not have believed had you told me five years ago. The ARPwave devices have undeniably revolutionized our approach to rehabilitation, proving to be an invaluable asset to our practice. Measured in patient satisfaction, we have found that this new system of rehabilitation works 60-80% faster than traditional physical therapy, we can focus on building muscle strength and getting the patient back to a productive and meaningful life.

Using ARPwave NeuroTherapy in Rehabilitation

The ARPwave Neuromuscular Therapy process allows us to help patients manage chronic pain, boost their range of motion, and accelerate recovery time and physical performance all without the reliance on any pharmaceuticals. The high frequency, bio-electrical system of the ARPwave technology, is able to diagnose and pinpoint the neurological origin of pain and physical symptoms better than any other device I have had the experience of using in my practice.

Furthermore, the nature of ARPwave therapy has always been aligned with our goals as a clinic as is not a passive treatment but rather an active one. Unlike traditional physical therapy methods where patients often receive treatments without engaging in any sort of active movement, ARPwave engages patients actively in their recovery process. This active involvement not only speeds up the rehabilitation timeline but also empowers patients to take charge of their healing journey. By targeting the neurological root of pain and dysfunction and actively stimulating the muscles, ARPwave therapy promotes a more comprehensive and lasting recovery.

In our practice, we have never just focused on alleviating symptoms temporarily; we’ve aimed to address the underlying issues, guide patients through therapy, facilitate recovery, and build strength and resilience. This approach, now bolstered by the incredible ARPwave technology ensures that patients not only recover faster but also regain functional abilities long term and work to prevent future injuries. ARPwave therapy goes beyond just treating the symptoms; it promotes long-term wellness and helps individuals lead healthier, more fulfilling lives. By embracing active rehabilitation techniques like ARPwave Neuromuscular Therapy, we can truly make a difference in our patients’ well-being and overall quality of life.

Simply put, there’s nothing else like it and to say that integrating Neuromuscular Therapy and the use of the Rx devices saved my practice would not be an understatement.

Our commitment to a holistic approach to healing has always been of incredible importance to me and coupled with the cutting-edge technology that ARPwave offers, we have been able to help more people than ever before. Our patients are living testimonials to the transformative power of active rehabilitation and Neuromuscular Electrostimulation, and their success stories are the driving force behind our desire to strive for excellence every day.
