Mike Tyson’s Secret Training Weapon for the Epic Clash Against Jake Paul

Introduction

In one of the most anticipated televised events of the year, on July 20th, 2024, fighting legend Mike Tyson will be facing off against divisive YouTuber turned boxer, Jake Paul. The fight, to be streamed globally on Netflix will be held at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas tailored to create the Exhibition Event of the year.

Both contestants have been training tirelessly in an effort to one-up the other, but in addition to his years of experience, Mike Tyson also has a secret weapon.

Understanding ARPwave Neuromuscular Stimulation Therapy

ARPwave Neuromuscular Stimulation Therapy has been used in the sports training arena for the better part of two decades. Utilizing ARPwave’s unique waveform and a proprietary set of protocols, ARPwave Neuromuscular Stimulation Therapy allows athletes to recover faster, build muscle tone and function, and increase overall range of motion. ARPwave delivers precise and powerful electrical impulses to enhance sensorimotor integration and optimize overall functional capacity.

Through muscular re-education, ARPwave Neuromuscular Stimulation Therapy is used by athletes to stay in peak form through injuries, level up their skills in a way that their competitors are not and integrate the nervous system into their training in a lasting way. ARPwave significantly enhances the brain’s ability to adapt and rewire itself, leading to improved motor function, proprioception and overall training outcomes.

Mike Tyson’s Training Regime

As seen in many of Tyson’s training videos in preparation for the fight, he has been using the ARPwave modality to add an additional level of difficulty and improvement throughout his weightlifting practice and even during some sparring rounds. The pads and wires hanging off his body in these videos are the points of connection that the ARPwave device uses to deliver electrostimulation into the targeted area of the body. By adding this additional stimulation to his standard training regimen, Tyson gets additional benefits that he wouldn’t otherwise.

The Details

In an effort to pair the fighters fairly, the Commission has announced that the rules will be slightly different than a typical fight, including the following regulations:

  • 16 oz boxing gloves instead of 10 oz boxing gloves
  • 2-minute rounds instead of 3-minute rounds
  • Fighters over 35 need to pass an EEG and EKG to be approved for the fight
  • No judges
  • No official winner unless there is a knockout

Arguments have been made on both sides as to whom the altered regulations give the upper hand. Supporters of Jake Paul state that his youth will be an advantage, however supporters of Mike Tyson believe that his experience and ferocity will be enough to overwhelm his younger, much less experienced opponent. Heavier boxing gloves slow the overall velocity of a punch, addressing an advantage that Mike Tyson has, however, shorter rounds will allow the fighters to focus on technique instead of relying primarily on stamina, which mitigates an advantage Jake Paul has due to his youth.

All that said, it’s important to never discount the fact that Mike Tyson has been regarded as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time, being dubbed Iron Mike, Kid Dynamite, and The Baddest Man on the Plant. It is true that a winner will only be awarded in the case of a knockout, but never forget that in his prime, Mike Tyson won his first 19 fights by knockout, so this would not be a first for him. Whereas Jake Paul’s knockout in 2018 was only a Technical Knock Out (or TKO) and a repeat performance of that win has yet to occur.

The Competitive Edge with ARPwave Neuromuscular Stimulation Therapy

Some of the many benefits of utilizing ARPwave Neuromuscular Stimulation Therapy in training include increased strength, increased speed and flexibility, and faster recovery. Any of which may be the thing to give Tyson that extra edge he needs to definitively beat Jake Paul.

Through consistent and direct electrostimulation, the ARPwave modalities create meaningful and lasting improvements in neuromotor function. Specifically, stimulation can promote muscle contraction, which is beneficial for strengthening muscles and improving overall tone. However, it also teaches the neurons around the area being targeted what they’re meant to be doing to achieve the desired results. This re-education creates a certain level of muscle memory that will carry on even once the pads are removed.

Similarly, while electrostimulation encourages muscles to contract, it also promotes lengthening in the muscles opposite to those contracting. To fully complete a movement in the athlete’s full range of motion, both the agonist and antagonist muscles must do what they’re supposed to. Encouraging this give and take in a lasting way through neuroplasticity reduces the likelihood of injury when the athlete does inevitably need to go full out. If the muscles are already trained to do what they’re supposed to, the athlete doesn’t need to worry about needing to think about it when it really matters.

Finally, the benefit of faster recovery allows for athletes to mitigate soreness that might prevent additional training, promote proper repair of the neuromuscular system after injury, and regain proper function more expediently.

Is Neuromuscular Stimulation The Future of Sports Training

Neuromuscular Stimulation Therapy is currently being used in a variety of ways across the board both on the collegiate and professional level.  It’s not just Iron Mike who takes advantage of the many positive results ARPwave Neuromuscular Stimulation Therapy can bring.

“Training with ARPwave has helped unlock my true potential. With ARPwave by my side, I’ve become not just a stronger bodybuilder, but a stronger human.” – Iris Kyle, currently the most successful, female or male, professional bodybuilder ever. Holding 20 Professional Titles
“ARPwave revolutionized my training and recovery as an athlete. It is the secret weapon that kept me at the top of my game. Enhancing my performance, ARPwave is an essential part of my success.” – Isaiah Vidal, Most Decorated Crossfit OCR Athlete Worldwide
